Garland Risner - Team Owner
Garland has been deeply involved in racing since the early 1980s, starting with go-karts and quickly progressing through the ranks to midget racing. His early years in the sport laid a strong foundation, but a career shift led him away from racing and into the world of street rods and suspension development for several years. Despite this change in direction, a series of fortunate events led Garland back to his racing roots and the creation of GR Motorsports.
With a wealth of experience in both racing and automotive engineering, Garland has assembled a team with unparalleled expertise in the motorsports world. GR Motorsports is now recognized for its competitive edge, offering a level of skill and professionalism on par with some of the nation’s top racing teams. Garland's commitment to excellence continues to drive the success of GR Motorsports, as the team looks forward to achieving even greater accomplishments in the years ahead.


Sue Risner - Team Owner
Sue is the true force behind the scenes at GR Motorsports, wielding her influence as the unsung powerhouse. As the wife of Garland, Sue's strategic mind and tireless dedication to keep the gears turning smoothly. Her integral role in decision-making and day-to-day operations makes her an indispensable part of the team, shaping the success of GR Motorsports behind the scenes.
A.J. Johnson - Driver #22S
A.J. Johnson, a driver from Oskaloosa, IA, is gearing up for an exciting run at the 2025 Chili Bowl Nationals, where he will be behind the wheel of the #22S car. Outside of racing, A.J. operates his own construction business, A.J.'s Contracting, and enjoys life with his wife, Mallory, and their two children, Maxyn and Henley.
A.J.’s racing journey began at the age of 10, and he has since become a competitive presence in both wing and non-wing sprint cars. In 2023, he raced in the Pro Series Sprints at Knoxville Raceway, where he secured Rookie of the Year honors and finished 5th in points. For the 2025 season, A.J. plans to continue racing in this series, while also branching out into occasional non-wing events.
When not in the shop or on the track, A.J. enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, from fishing and kayaking to hiking, hunting, and working on home projects. His commitment to both racing and family life is evident, and fans are excited to see him take on the prestigious Chili Bowl Nationals in 2025.

Jack France - Driver #22G

Hailing from Cleckheaton, WYK, England, Jack France will be behind the wheel of the #22G car for his second year at the 2025 Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa, OK. Jack’s racing journey began at the age of 7, navigating go-karts at an indoor kart center to learn the basics. By 8, he had his own kart and began racing at outdoor club events, continuing in karting until the age of 19. During this time, Jack earned 5 championships across various karting classes, cementing his reputation as a competitive and skilled driver.
In 2015, Jack transitioned to Brisca F1 Stock cars, where he quickly made an impact, achieving 14 heat race victories. His success culminated in securing the pole position for the 2023 World Finals after winning the World Semi-Final. Jack's continued passion for racing and his dedication to improving his skills make him a formidable competitor, and he looks forward to making an even greater impression at the 2025 Chili Bowl Nationals.
Myles Tomlinson - Driver #21R
Myles Tomlinson, based in Turtle Lake, North Dakota, is a versatile figure in the racing community, serving as both a driver and the owner-operator of the Western Renegade Non-Wing Sprintcar Series. He began his racing career in IMCA Modifieds before transitioning to sprint cars, where he has achieved notable success. In 2024, Myles participated in 24 events, securing 6 wins, 21 top-five finishes, and 23 top-ten finishes.
Beyond his driving career, Myles is deeply involved in promoting and organizing sprint car racing events through his series, contributing to the growth and development of non-wing sprint car racing in the region. In 2025, he will be racing for the first time with GRMotorSports at the prestigious Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa, OK, looking to make a mark in one of the most competitive midget racing events in the world.
